PROVEN LEADERSHIP WITH COUNTY-WIDE IMPACT

As Mayor, I’ve worked to enhance Daytona Beach Shores, but my impact goes well beyond the city’s limits. I’ve built strong relationships with local leaders and advocated for all of Volusia County, making sure we are moving forward together. Some of my most significant leadership roles include:

• President, Florida League of Mayors: Representing mayors from across the state, I advocate for the issues that impact cities large and small. My role as President has given me the platform to push for policy changes that will benefit all Floridians—and I’ll bring that same focus to Volusia County.
• President, Volusia League of Cities: I led the Volusia League, bringing together city leaders across the county to collaborate on important issues, from infrastructure to economic development.
• Board of Directors, Florida League of Cities: As one of just two representatives from Volusia County, I helped shape statewide policies that impact municipalities across Florida, ensuring that Volusia’s voice is heard in Tallahassee.
• State Advocacy Committee, Florida League of Cities: I’ve worked directly with state lawmakers, advocating for local governments to have the resources and support needed to thrive. My experience on the State Advocacy Committee will be invaluable as I represent Volusia at the county level.
• Legislative Committee – Municipal Administration: I served on the Legislative Committee, focusing on the policies that impact municipal operations and governance. This experience has given me the insight and knowledge to craft solutions that benefit all communities in Volusia County.

My ability to collaborate and build consensus across Volusia County is one of the most important parts of my leadership. As a Past Vice Chair and Chairman of the Volusia Roundtable, I led meetings with mayors and city managers from all 16 cities, while working closely with Volusia County staff to find solutions that benefit everyone.

As Vice Chair for two years and Chairman for two more, I helped steer discussions on countywide issues, from disaster recovery efforts after Hurricanes Ian and Nicole to economic development projects and transportation improvements. My experience on the Roundtable gives me a unique perspective on the needs of every municipality in Volusia, and I want to continue that work at the county level.

Now is the time for leadership that brings us together as one Volusia County. With the experience I’ve gained from working at the state level, the county level, and with local municipalities, I am ready to continue making Volusia County the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
